iGaming payment processing: what happens between deposit and balance
August 31, 2026

iGaming payment processing is the set of steps that carries a player's deposit from the payment method they pick to the money in your operating account. It covers the deposit request, the confirmation that funds moved, the conversion into your reporting currency, the credit to the player balance, and the settlement to your bank. Almost all of that happens inside a provider you chose, so the choice matters more than the integration work.
EukaPay runs the whole path on one account: crypto pay-ins on one side, crypto payouts on the other, and fiat settlement to your own bank account. This guide walks each stage in order, names what goes wrong, and sets out the criteria to hold a provider to.
In this guide, you'll learn:
The stages a deposit passes through, from request to player balance to settled fiat
Which stages your provider owns, and which stay inside your platform
The criteria to compare providers on, with BitPay's and CoinGate's published fees
How deposit processing and payout processing share one account
The stages of iGaming payment processing, from deposit request to player balance
Four stages, in this order. Your platform owns the first and the last handoff. The provider owns everything between, the scope covered in
what an iGaming payment processor actually does
.
Deposit request - the player picks an asset and an amount
Your cashier passes the deposit to the provider, which returns a payment page the player finishes in a browser. EukaPay accepts pay-ins in BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, BCH, LTC, SOL, and over Lightning, so the asset a player holds is usually one you can take. The amount and the reference are fixed here, and both follow the payment to the end.
On-chain confirmation - the network records the transfer
A crypto deposit confirms on-chain, not through a card issuer. No acquirer decides whether to approve it, so the decline paths that shape card deposit funnels do not apply. Confirmation is a network event your provider watches and reports.
Conversion - the fiat value is set at the moment of payment
EukaPay locks the exchange rate on every conversion by default, on pay-ins and on payouts. You get instant crypto-to-fiat conversion at a locked exchange rate to remove your exposure to crypto price swings. The number your cashier credits to the player and the number your finance team reconciles are then the same number.
Settlement - the money reaches your own bank account
Fiat settlement pays your own operating account, in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and other currencies. It is not a way to pay a player in fiat. Player withdrawals are a separate movement on the same account, and they are not tied to banking hours.
Where iGaming payment processing costs an operator money
Rarely the integration. Three other places, all of them provider-selection decisions.
Asset coverage that stops short of what players hold.
A provider supporting a narrow set of cryptocurrencies pushes a share of deposits back to a method the player likes less.
Rate movement between the deposit and the credit.
If the fiat value is not fixed when the player pays, the amount you credit and the amount you bank can differ. Small gaps across high deposit counts add up.
Reporting that cannot be reconciled.
A deposit without a durable reference has to be matched by hand. Each EukaPay payout carries its own reference that can be looked up.

EukaPay carries both directions of the flow on one account, which is what an operator processing deposits and player withdrawals needs. BitPay publishes a volume-tiered rate card, CoinGate publishes 1% on its standard plan, and NOWPayments publishes a 1% service fee. A published number is easy to compare and says nothing about the asset coverage, the settlement currencies, or the payout side behind it. Price the whole path, then talk to the EukaPay team about the rate for your volume.
Does iGaming payment processing work differently for a sportsbook and a casino?
The four stages are identical. The shape of the flow is not. A casino tends to see many small deposits and a steadier withdrawal pattern. A sportsbook sees deposit spikes around fixtures and heavier withdrawal peaks after them. Both run on the same EukaPay account, because asset and network are set per payout and the payout balance is funded from the account's main balance. That is the account model described in

One platform for deposits, payouts, and fiat settlement
Deposits, payouts, and fiat settlement run on one EukaPay account. You get instant crypto-to-fiat conversion at a locked exchange rate to remove your exposure to crypto price swings. EukaPay supports most major cryptocurrencies, and settles in USD, EUR, GBP, and CAD to your bank account. Payouts are sent in USDC, USDT, ETH, and BTC across the Ethereum, Tron, and Bitcoin networks. A crypto payment confirms on-chain, so protection against chargebacks is a property of the payment method.
If you are choosing a provider to process iGaming deposits and player withdrawals, start with EukaPay. The deposit path and the payout path sit on the same account and reconcile against the same references. Open an account, run a deposit through the staging environment, and compare the reporting against your current provider's.

Frequently asked questions
What is iGaming payment processing?
It is the sequence that moves a player's deposit through confirmation, conversion, and the credit to their balance. It then settles the money to your operating account. Most of the sequence runs inside your payment provider.
How long does a crypto deposit take to credit a player balance?
Crediting follows on-chain confirmation, so it depends on the asset and network the player used, not on a banking cutoff. EukaPay accepts BTC, ETH, USDT, USDC, BCH, LTC, SOL, and Lightning, which gives players faster networks to choose from.
Can I settle in fiat and still pay players in crypto?
Yes. Fiat settlement reaches your own bank account in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and others. Payouts go out in USDC, USDT, ETH, and BTC from the payout balance you fund from your main balance.
What does EukaPay charge to process iGaming payments?
EukaPay does not publish a public rate card. Pricing is agreed with the EukaPay team and reflects your volume and the mix of deposits and payouts you run.
Does the exchange rate move between the deposit and my settlement?
No. EukaPay locks the exchange rate on every conversion by default, on pay-ins and on payouts, so the fiat value is set at the moment of payment.
Can I test iGaming payment processing before going live?
Yes. A staging environment is available for development, and the payment and payout endpoints are documented, so your team can run a deposit end to end first.
