EukaPay vs CoinGate
August 20, 2026

CoinGate is one of the most visible crypto payment gateways in Europe.
Its appeal is easy to see: broad cryptocurrency coverage and a clean checkout experience.
That brand recognition is not the same thing as product fit. EukaPay competes with CoinGate on different ground: depth inside the merchant tools rather than breadth across the coin list.
This guide compares the two across invoicing, developer features, settlement, and the operational details that determine which one a business actually wants to integrate.
Quick verdict
CoinGate holds both a MiCA authorization and a Payment Institution license in the EU.
It offers ecommerce plugin coverage outside Shopify, which it does not currently support natively.
EukaPay is built for businesses that need finer control over invoicing, more API surface for automation, and instant onboarding.
Where CoinGate optimises for a simple path to acceptance, EukaPay optimises for the operational layer that businesses build on top: granular invoices, customer records, idempotency, multi-fiat settlement, and full mass-payout APIs.
Payment products
On the surface the products line up. Both support invoicing, hosted checkout, payment links, refunds, mass payouts, internal balance transfers, and crypto-to-fiat conversion.
What differs is how deep each goes inside a given product. CoinGate's invoice and checkout flows are well-built but designed around a single merchant model. EukaPay's are built to handle finance teams, marketplaces, and multi-region operations.
Feature | EukaPay | CoinGate |
Invoicing | Yes | Yes |
Subscriptions / recurring billing | Yes | Yes |
Checkout (hosted payment page) | Yes | Yes |

Platform and developer features
Developer ergonomics is where the gap is widest. EukaPay supports idempotent requests on every POST, customer records with structured metadata, instant account registration for development access, and multi-currency invoicing across USD, EUR, GBP, and CAD.
CoinGate covers the basics: REST API, webhooks, sandbox, customer records. Its idempotency and metadata handling are more limited, and account access requires verification before development can begin. For most production integrations these gaps are workable. For high-volume merchants, integrators, or anyone building a payment platform on top of the gateway, they translate into custom retry logic and additional reconciliation work.
Feature | EukaPay | CoinGate |
REST API | Yes | Yes |
Test environment | Yes | Yes |
Webhooks | Yes | Yes |
Idempotent requests | Yes | Limited |
Customer management | Yes | Yes |
Metadata / custom fields on records | Yes | Limited |
Instant registration | Yes | No |
Multi-currency invoicing | Yes | Limited |
Invoice capabilities
Invoice granularity is the most tangible difference for finance teams and billing operators.
EukaPay supports line items, per-invoice tax rules, discount codes, custom due and issue dates, and configurable redirect URIs after payment. CoinGate covers the basics (line items, due dates, hosted payment URLs) but does not offer discount codes and provides limited tax configuration.
For a merchant running flat-rate billing in a single jurisdiction, that is fine. For a merchant running promotions, charging across regions with different VAT rules, or matching invoice metadata back to an accounting system, the difference shows up immediately.
Capability | EukaPay | CoinGate |
Line items on invoices | Yes | Yes |
Tax rules per invoice | Yes | Limited |
Discount codes per invoice | Yes | No |
Custom due dates and issue dates | Yes | Yes |
Redirect URI after payment | Yes | Basic |
Hosted payment URL | Yes | Yes |
Where the differences actually matter
For an ecommerce business outside Shopify
CoinGate has plugin coverage for major ecommerce platforms, but no native Shopify integration as of 2026. A Shopify merchant integrating CoinGate has to build a custom API integration.
EukaPay offers a Shopify plugin, Xero and QuickBooks integrations, and a WooCommerce plugin, which removes the developer cost for most ecommerce setups.
For a SaaS or subscription business
EukaPay offers a dedicated subscription product that lets merchants charge customers on a recurring schedule through the dashboard and the API.
CoinGate's recurring billing is more constrained, which means SaaS-specific logic often ends up in the merchant's application code. For SaaS, membership platforms, or any business with predictable repeat charges, the difference matters.
For a high-volume merchant or platform
Mass payouts, programmatic invoice creation, and webhook reliability dominate the integration cost.
EukaPay's API exposes the full dashboard surface, signs every webhook with HMAC SHA-512, retries failed deliveries on a 20-minute interval for up to two hours, and supports V4 UUID idempotency keys on POST requests.
CoinGate handles webhooks and payouts well but with less explicit retry and idempotency contracts, which means more defensive code on the merchant's side.
For a freelancer or small business
Both gateways are easy to use for one-off client billing.
EukaPay's Payment Links can be created in under a minute and sent over any channel. CoinGate's hosted invoice flow is equally simple.
The deciding factor for a single user is usually pricing structure and accounting integration; EukaPay offers Xero and QuickBooks integrations, which CoinGate does not.
Switching from CoinGate to EukaPay
The three questions merchants ask before migrating: onboarding time, customer impact, and integration changes.
Onboarding:
EukaPay registration is instant and the sandbox is available immediately. Business verification is required before live transactions can process; this happens in parallel with development.
Customer experience:
Customers pay through a hosted EukaPay checkout. The flow is similar to CoinGate's: select a cryptocurrency, send to the displayed address or scan the QR code, and the payment completes. Exchange rates are locked at the time of transaction so neither customer nor merchant is exposed to volatility.
Integration changes:
Migrating involves swapping the API authentication header, the invoice creation endpoint, and the webhook handler.
covers each endpoint with cURL and JavaScript samples, and the sandbox lets the new integration run end-to-end before production traffic switches over.
Existing CoinGate balances should be withdrawn to a wallet or settled to a bank account before the switch. There is no direct gateway-to-gateway transfer for crypto balances, which is true across the industry.
